Fleece

We shear our Icelandic sheep twice a year - in the spring and the fall. Icelandic sheep are double coated, with a soft and fine undercoat (thel), and the mohair-like outercoat (tog). The coats of lamb fleeces are silky soft with long staples.

You can separate the two coats for different purposes, or spin them together to create the unique lopi yarn or make fantastic rugs.

We keep the messy spring fleeces for felting and dryer balls. But our beautiful fall fleeces are clean and perfect for spinning or felting.
